Remember when we used to refer to VARs whose first ERP offering was a cloud solution as “Born in the cloud”? Well, we may be coining a new term…maybe “Born in the Claude”?
Pine has officially launched Raiz, a new portfolio company created to serve as its dedicated Rillet VAR and implementation partner, marking a strategic expansion into the growing AI-native ERP category.
Raiz will focus exclusively on helping mid-market organizations deploy and adopt Rillet, an emerging ERP platform designed from the ground up as an AI-native system. Pine says the move reflects increasing demand among finance teams for modern ERP alternatives that avoid the long timelines and rigid workflows commonly associated with traditional platforms.
Why Rillet is Drawing Mid-Market Attention
According to Pine’s VP of Strategic Partnerships, Chris Milan, Rillet has gained traction in the mid-market due to its fundamentally different approach to ERP architecture. Unlike legacy ERP systems that have added automation and AI features over time, Rillet was built with AI at the core, enabling faster workflows, streamlined financial operations, and more intuitive user experiences.
Pine views Rillet as part of a broader market shift toward finance platforms designed specifically for speed, intelligence, and rapid deployment.
Raiz Positioned as Implementation and Services Arm
Raiz is led by Payton Mills (formerly of Pine Services’ Operating Company Alta Vista Technology) and will operate as the primary partner responsible for customer onboarding, implementation, and ongoing services. According to Pine, Raiz was incubated to help companies go live on Rillet in weeks rather than months, a key differentiator as mid-market buyers increasingly prioritize time-to-value.
Pine believes Raiz will help remove a common barrier to ERP adoption: the complexity and disruption typically associated with implementation.
Expanding Pine’s Portfolio Reach
Pine described Raiz as a strategic extension of its portfolio, enabling the firm to enter a new ERP category without competing directly with other partners and portfolio companies. Rillet’s website may tell a different story, though, listing key competitors as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, and SAP, all of which are key products offered by Pine’s other portfolio companies.
